Marcus Ericsson and Jon Lancaster each won a GP2 race, this week-end at the Nürburgring.
Ericsson, who started from second position on the grid behind teammate Stéphane Richelmi in race 1, takes his first success of the season, after he failed to win a race in the first half of the season despite having set two pole positions.
The Swede took advantage on Richelmi at the start, before he ran away in front, concluding the race with a gap of nearly eight seconds ahead of James Calado.
Championship leader Stefano Coletti had an impressive comeback, taking third position at the end from his 13th position on the grid, after a great battle and a late move on Robin Frijns at the chicane before the last corner. Frijns was also passed by Fabio Leimer and Stéphane Richelmi, the four drivers being separated by merely three tenths of a second at the finish line.
The race was briefly neutralized behind the safety car after Kevin Ceccon rolled at the start following a contact with Daniel Abt and Nathanael Berthon, without any harm for the drivers.
On Sunday, Jon Lancaster took his second success one week after his sprint race win at Silverstone. The Brit moved up to the lead at the start ahead of pole sitter Tom Dillmann, and cruised to victory in race 2 ahead of James Calado, who secured another second place, and Fabio Leimer.
Felipe Nasr moves up to second in provisional classification ahead of Sam Bird, and now stands 27 points behind championship leader Coletti.
